Hagu Community Guidelines

May 2025

This document is meant to be edited, amended, and changed as needed — as we grow, listen, and become more precise about the needs of our space.

Hagu is a space for real-world presence, emotional intelligence, and intentional companionship. To protect that, we ask everyone to follow a clear and respectful code of conduct. Hagu is not a dating app, not therapy, and not a marketplace for attention. It’s a space for meaningful, grounded human connection — and we take that seriously.

We trust in your capacity to contribute to a kind and open atmosphere. We value courtesy, non-judgment, mutual respect, and spatial awareness. Everyone using Hagu has the right to be treated with dignity — regardless of their background, identity, or beliefs. Our goal is to nurture a sense of belonging through conscious behavior, honest communication, and respect for privacy.

Profile Guidelines

Age
You must be 18 or older to use Hagu. Misrepresenting your age, including pretending to be underage, is not permitted. We may ask for identification if age verification is needed. If you're under 18, your account will be removed.

Profile photos
Your profile must clearly reflect who you are. We require at least one photo showing your unobstructed face. We do not allow:

  • Heavily filtered or altered images

  • Memes or quote images as your primary photo

  • Solo photos of children

  • Images of unclothed children, even if non-sexual

Usernames
Your username should reflect your everyday identity. We don’t allow usernames that:

  • Contain hate speech, slurs, or offensive content

  • Impersonate public figures or fictional characters

  • Use excessive symbols, numbers, or emojis that obscure your name

Content & Conduct Guidelines

Consent first
Every interaction must be clearly agreed upon by both parties. Consent should be enthusiastic and ongoing. No means no. Maybe also means no.

Be honest
Represent yourself truthfully. No fake personas, no catfishing, and no misleading information about your identity or intentions.

Show up fully
Be present and grounded when meeting others. Do not attend hangouts while intoxicated or disengaged. Respect the energy and time shared.

Respect others
Hagu does not tolerate harassment, threats, or abusive behavior — verbal, emotional, or physical. Everyone deserves to feel safe.

No sexual content
Hagu is not for romantic or sexual activity. We prohibit:

  • Nudity or explicit imagery

  • Requests for or offers of sexual services

  • Unsolicited sexual messages or innuendo

No discrimination or hate
We do not allow any form of hate speech, harassment, or dehumanizing behavior based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, ability, or background.

Shared Space, Shared Focus
Hagu is a space for shared presence and emotional connection, not for public advocacy. To keep the atmosphere open and comfortable for all, we ask users to avoid visible political slogans, symbols, or statements in their profiles or interactions.

No illegal or harmful conduct
Do not use Hagu to buy, sell, or promote illegal substances or dangerous items. This includes drugs, weapons, and unauthorized medical products.

No promotions or solicitation
Hagu is not a place for marketing or sales. Do not promote businesses, services, or products without permission.

Stay authentic
Only one profile per person. No bots, duplicate accounts, or misrepresentation. Profiles should reflect who you are in real life.

Avoid misinformation
Do not spread harmful or misleading information, including conspiracy theories, health disinformation, or civic misinformation.

No threats or intimidation
Aggressive, threatening, or coercive language is unacceptable. Users who attempt to intimidate others will be removed.

No scams or financial abuse
You may not use Hagu to deceive others into sending money or gifts, including emotional manipulation for financial gain.

No sexual harassment
Sexual comments, suggestive messages, and unsolicited explicit content are strictly prohibited.

No spam or automation
Avoid repetitive messages, account farming, or using tools to manipulate interactions.

No glorification of self-harm
While personal experiences may be shared, we do not allow content that glorifies or promotes self-injury or disordered behavior.

No graphic or violent content
Do not share violent, gory, or distressing imagery or language on your profile or in conversations.

No manipulation of the platform
Do not use code, bots, or backdoor tactics to influence visibility or engagement.

Reporting & Accountability

Safety monitoring
We use a combination of human moderation and automated tools to keep Hagu safe. Reports are reviewed seriously and in a timely manner.

When to report
Report serious or harmful behavior — not personal disagreements. False reporting may result in removal.

Off-platform conduct
If we are made aware of harmful behavior that happens outside of Hagu (e.g. in person or over private channels), we may take action as if it occurred within the app.

Consequences
Depending on the severity of a violation, we may:

  • Remove content

  • Send a formal warning

  • Permanently ban the account

  • Contact legal authorities if necessary

One strike = out

Hagu has zero tolerance for serious violations. When harm is caused, we act immediately.

By using Hagu, you agree to uphold these guidelines and contribute to a safe, respectful, and meaningful space. This isn’t social media. It’s social life — with care and accountability.
